Workplace Safety and Health (Exemption) Order

This Order may be cited as the Workplace Safety and Health (Exemption) Order.
Subject to paragraph 3, any workplace wholly or partly owned or occupied by the Singapore Armed Forces is hereby exempted from the provisions of the Act.
The exemption under paragraph 2 shall not apply if —(a)the workplace is occupied by any other person under a lease or licence granted by or on behalf of the Singapore Armed Forces; and(b)any building operation or any work of engineering construction is carried out in the workplace by contractors engaged by the Government.
—(1) Any person who is an occupier of any domestic premises, not being premises which are used (whether wholly or partly) by the occupier for the purpose of the conduct of any business or undertaking of the occupier, is hereby exempted from the provisions of the Act.(2) For the avoidance of doubt, for the purpose of sub-paragraph (1), the leasing out of the whole or any part of the domestic premises by the occupier of the premises to another for residential purposes does not constitute conducting a business or undertaking.
